Frequently Asked Questions
What is ToolTrucks.com?
We are an online classified advertising venue for sellers of Tool Trucks and Tool Trailers, mobile display trucks, and other work trucks. We have a Parts and Accessories Store, offer referrals to finance companies and delivery services, and have a lot of Tool business-related info.
Why ToolTrucks.com? How did it come to be?
Our staff came from your business, not selling tools, but as support vendors who worked in the financing and insurance industries. It can be difficult to get the total picture of the used tool truck market because a lot of the information is compartmentalized between companies. Sometimes there could be the perfect truck for you only 50 miles away, and the seller wouldn't know you were there - and vice versa. And you know how it is with specialized Tool Trucks and Trailers - you typically won't find one in the local paper or "Truck Trader". There seemed to be a need for a place where tool business pros could advertise a truck for sale, a place where tool business people could see it. As they say, information is power, and we give you the information you need to be a more informed buyer or seller. We created ToolTrucks.com in 2004.
How do I browse the Tool Truck ads?
In the menu along the top of every page, look for "Classifieds". This link will take you to what we call the "Classifieds Main Page", where it all begins.
To help you find a truck or trailer, we have several ad viewing options to choose from. Option 1 is the Gallery view that shows every ad with a small photo, and Option 2 gives you a list of trucks with two preview photos running down the page (easiest to sort), Option 5 is independent "Indy" trucks. You can search by Tool Co by clicking on the truck you want, and you can also print out a text list.
If I find a truck I like, how do I get more information about it?
Contact the advertiser. The vehicle owner will gladly provide you with more information. There is contact information in each listing.
How can I place an ad to sell my truck?
We have tried to make it easy. Look in the menu across every page and click on "Place an Ad". We will ask what Make of truck you are selling, and then a customized page opens up with the right questions to ask for your make of truck (or trailer). Follow the prompts, pay for your ad, and you will see it the next business day.
Can I call you guys and talk trucks?
Of course! We are usually working on improving the website or out and about looking for tool truck advertising opportunities so we may not answer the phone every time, so feel free to leave a message. Or email us. Our email is always on, including our 'Droid phones, so you WILL get a reply to your email, at most in 24 hours, but usually much quicker, sometimes at midnight even. But we know how it is sometimes, you want to talk to someone. If you really want to call us, our number is 770-277-1316. Call anytime. We like tool trucks too and are happy to talk about them with you.
Am I buying from ToolTrucks.com or the owner in the listing?
You are buying from the advertiser, who is either an individual in the tool business or a truck dealer. ToolTrucks.com is as an online classified advertising service, much like the daily newspaper where individuals run an ad in the automotive section - except we are a highly specialized business geared toward the tool business. We don't have any of our own trucks to sell.
How long have these trucks been for sale? I don’t want to waste my time searching for a truck that is already sold.
Most sellers report sales as they are completed, and we work very hard to keep the ads current and we contact advertisers regularly for a status check. If you come across an ad where the owner either doesn't respond to your inquiries or tells you it has been sold, we would like to know about it. Please email "mrwebmaster@tooltrucks.com" and let us know. Sometimes the sellers forget or "out of sight out of mind" kicks in.
What about financing?
Sone of the trucks for sale have assumable leases, it will note this in the ad. ToolTrucks.com also has contacts in the industry who like tool trucks and offer competitive financing for new trucks and almost every used truck listed on the website (Legal: of course there are limitations depending upon credit history, business experience, model year of truck, etc., and not everyone will be approved for financing. Financing is offered by one or more outside providers and ToolTrucks.com has no influence on their decisions). Go to "Services" and please see the "Truck Leasing" page for more information.
Does ToolTrucks.com inspect or make any representations regarding the condition of a vehicle?
No, ToolTrucks.com acts only as a listing service. All trucks are represented and described by the seller and are sold "as is".
When I find a truck I am interested in - what's the next step?
Contact the seller in the ad by email or phone. It's like buying anything - the more information, the better. Ask about the truck, it's condition, it's features, size of tool box openings, etc. Sometimes the seller has additional photos he can send you.
It's good to ask if a truck has assumable financing already in place. Assumable financing means the leasing company will help you through the process and transfer ownership to your name. If there isn't any assumable financing in place, you don't have to pay cash - we know some finance companies very familiar with the tool business and tool trucks and will refer you to them if you wish.
This is a big purchase, so it's worth the time to travel to look at a vehicle, even if it means a plane flight. Arrange for full payment only when you can take delivery. It's not unreasonable for the seller to ask for a deposit to hold a truck for you, typically 10% of the selling price. Document everything, and use common sense.
And move quickly. Some of the truck models are hot sellers and can be gone the first day.
If I don't want to drive it back, or my buyer doesn't want to come get it, how does it get home?
We can refer you to a licensed, insured delivery service. They can move any truck within the US, to the US-Canadian border, and in some cases into Canada. Go to "Services" and check our Delivery page for more information and a quote.
I want to advertise my truck. How do I do this, and what will it cost?
For listing prices and the "how to", please visit our Sell Your Truck page. The process to place an ad is very easy - the page will walk you through it. You can email us photos, upload them from your computer, or send them by regular mail. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, AMEX, PayPal, and payment by check. We think you will find the cost very reasonable for the exposure your ad will get in the tool business.
What are the locations of the trucks listed for sale?
All over North America. The geographical location is at the beginning of every description.

A message from Clyde the webmaster:
If you cannot see photos of the trucks listed on this site and you are running a 'Norton Internet Security' product, the ad blocking software is removing the images and some links. It has determined the photos are ads, which of course they are, but not the 'dreaded' pop-up ads that everyone wants to block, and that is probably what is happening. If you don't know how to change your internet security settings, please call 'Norton' support to find out how to allow www.tooltrucks.com to be seen. Please remember, Norton's phone support is NOT free. The following link will take you to Norton's current support page.
