Clean California truck, custom-built for Southern California heat, with no rust. This is my 5th truck in 24 years and knowing what I needed I had it built more for function with less flash than my previous vehicles. The layout of the interior is set up to help display and sell tools. For example, I learned through experience that I don't need built in knife and sunglass display cases because the vendors give me a free one when I sell their product, and I am free to move them around the interior as needed.
This is definitely a great hot weather truck. The walls have been sprayed with foam instead of traditional insulation, which helps with temperature regulation in both heat and cold, as well as significantly reducing noise. Compared to my other trucks it is super quiet when driving, this foam made a huge difference. In addition to the two AC units I added two rooftop vent fans with covers. Using the fans allows me to wait later in the day before running the generator.
The inverter has been upgraded to a 3000W unit, allowing the fridge, microwave, and laser printer to operate simultaneously without issues, powered by six deep cell batteries. I have several security cameras inside and one pointing forward outside. I have seat covers on the seats in the cab. There is nothing wrong with them, I just want to protect the original seat fabric.
The truck has a 2,000 lb Liftgate with an easy to close platform, a tilt column, and heated mirrors, which I have never used.
The tires are almost new, and the truck receives maintenance every ninety days using full synthetic oil and Wix or Baldwin filters. The generator set is also serviced regularly. I generally drive only 1,500–2,000 miles with very little idle time between services. (OIL AND GREASE ARE CHEAPER THAN DOWNTIME!).
I have kept up with maintenance all along. Because of the generator, I can shut the engine off at stops and keep the AC units running and this keeps the engine hours lower than an idling engine. And that pays off - this truck has NEVER had any DEF-related issues; this is mainly due to the low engine hours. I run it down the highway weekly to ensure the DEF system heats and cycles properly.
Why am I selling? After all, I love the Herr Display interior and have a new truck by Herr on order now. This is California, and the CARB regulations on diesels are getting stricter and stricter —I just don't drive enough miles per year to justify the added cost of a diesel. I’m switching to a gas engine truck. This unit will be available by the end of May or possibly very early June. The mileage and hours on the truck and generator set will increase slightly by then.
